Transit from Trivandrum (India) to Arugam Bay (Sri Lanka) via Chennai (28th Feb – 3rd March)

In order to meet our friends in Arugam Bay on the east coast of Sri Lanka we had to get an overnight train, red-eye flight and overnight bus in four days. We left the shelter home in Trivandrum and took two trains to Chennai, arriving 20 hours later at 5.30am. We decided to get a fancy hotel with a pool for the one night we had in Chennai aimed to spend two full days there before our flight to Colombo at middnight. Prior to checking in we did manage to catch a local cricket match and Rachel also had some dental work done to repair a chipped tooth curtosy of a fried banana chip (productive morning in the end).

We got to our guest house in Colombo after the flight at 3am and managed a few hours sleep before doing a bit of exploring and getting an overnight bus to Arugam Bay. Luckily out guest house allowed us to check in at 8am.

Waiting on the beach until an acceptable time to check into our guest house in Aragam Bay after the overnight bus.
