Madikeri (29th Jan – 1st Feb)

From Bangalore we got an overnight bus to Madikeri, the largest town in the region of Coorg which is known for its coffee and spice plantations as well as it trekking. The overnight bus was less condicive to sleeping as we had imagined and also arrived in Madikeri at 4.30am, one hour prior to schedule. Luckily our guesthouse host (Pavan) was aware this may happen and insisted on picking us up and letting us check in for that night straight away. Pavan proved to be an excellent host by organising a trip to a nearby coffee and spice plantation as well as a day trek up Tadiandamol Hill (the highest point in the state of Karnataka at 1,748m above sea level). The trek was slightly harder than we expected…

We took a bus 1.5 hours from Madikeri and then a friend of Pavan drove us a further 30 mins in this jeep to reach the starting point og the trek.
